In Heera Mandi, artisans work on musical instruments like harmonium and Tabla; In Sheikhpurian Muhalla, Khussas, the footwear, is made with intricate designs. Old cinemas like Pakistan Talkies and Taranum have, however, vanished, and remain just a memory. The new food street, the V-shaped offshoot of the road connecting the Mandi to the Shahi Fort, is the place for the rich and famous to dine on the choicest delicacies of Pakistani cuisine. The old buildings have been renovated, painted and decorated to supposedly resemble the Mughal architecture.
