Bhabhra Bazaar
Text and pictorial: Sohail K. Shahzad
Walking through the narrow lanes of the ancient Bhabhra Bazaar may seem claustrophobic to those not used to it, but to its dwellers it’s a place to go back home. Everything about the structures, wiry and dilapidated, has a history going back decades.
At once, you get the feeling you’re living a time warp. The shrine of Ghazi Baba Sheikh Abdul Wahid, for instance, is 80-90 years old. The haveli of Rai Bahadur Soojan Singh is said to be a century old. In short, it’s a walk well worth your time.
