Islamabad waits for its movie theatre while Rawalpindi gets another

For movie theatre lovers of Islamabad, all roads lead to Rawalpindi. Recently, Bahria Town inaugurated a luxurious 3D multiplex cinema in Garden City, Phase 7, Rawalpindi. Overlooking a golf course, the cinema redefines luxury and offers a high end cinematic experience. It has two halls; one classified as Gold Class Lounge, with luxurious recliners to add extra comfort in watching a movie; other termed as a Club Lounge. An in-house cafe for Gold Class Lounge offers sumptuous cuisine and an awe-inspiring interior design.

Cine Gold is the third cinema to open in Rawalpindi, and the second in Bahria Town. Islamabad, in comparison, has none.

Cine Gold has been getting rave reviews from visitors, who are struck by the state of the art technology and cutting edge design elements. The only drawback is perhaps that the cinema is located at quite a distance from both downtown Islamabad and Rawalpindi. However, the response has been overwhelming with several shows running to full audience capacity, according to the management. And, visitors just cannot stop themselves from gushing over the facilities provided at the venue.

“Everything was contrary to what I had imagined,” said Ayesha, who had come to watch the movie “Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani” along with her in-laws. “I hated going to local cinemas but this is really a different experience.”

Farrukh Ali, 22, who had come with his college friends, said he was mesmerized by the interior. “The ambience of the cinema leaves an impression,” he said. “Even if the movie is boring, the comfortable environment makes it seem interesting.”

“Cine Gold is the second cinema in Bahria Town after the successful launch of the Arena. Both the cinemas were established with the objective of promoting healthy entertainment environment and recreational facilities to the audience,” said an official of the Cine Gold management.

For the residents of Islamabad, the choice is either to drive all the way to Bahria Town or wait till the Centauras, the newly built multi-story shopping complex, opens its cinema.

The opening there was earlier scheduled for June but got delayed.

“We have established a five-screen cinema to accommodate 500 people. As the Centaurus centre has received great response from people since its opening, we expect this project to be the most successful among our other cinema projects,” Amir Ali, an official from the Centaurus management, said.

The Centaurus management has given the name of “Fun City “to its cinema project, as it is surrounded by leading international food chains. Both the cinema and the food chains are enough to make the house full, while attracting mostly, but not limited to, the youth on the fourth floor of the Centaurus.
